Nun And Priest Die Trying To Save The Eucharist From A Church Fire
The Rev. George Weinmann was the pastor at Saint Phillip Neri Church, a former Roman Catholic parish on Clifford Avenue on northeast Rochester, and Sister Lilian Marie McLaughlin, was a second-grade teacher at the parish school.
Their deaths in 1967 left an indelible mark on students and parishioners, and have been regarded ever since by the faithful who know their story as examples of martyrdom.
