Today, Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor Paolo Andreolli, until now auxiliary bishop of Belém, as the new Bishop of Ponta de Pedras, Brazil. To be honest, Bishop Mutsaerts isn’t so much praising Leo XIV. He merely observes that when “a pope” visits France, hundreds of thousands come out to cheer him on. Not so much because of what Leo XIV does, but because—as Bishop Mutsaerts says—people—and especially young people—have a hunger for spirituality and are open to the Christian faith. In this, he sees the beginning of a “resurrection of Christianity.” He does not mention Leo XIV further.
