Quran is "Word of God" and Muhammad "chosen by God" - says Italian bishops’ school material. The publication, Schede per conoscere l’Islam (“Sheets for Understanding Islam”), was prepared by the CEI and the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI). It comprises 11 teaching sheets intended for use in Catholic religious instruction in Italian schools. They were presented at Palazzo Borromeo in Rome on October 21, at an event attended by Cardinal Matteo Zuppi. Sheet 2 describes Muhammad as “chosen by God to carry His message and to establish and guide the new community of believers.” It also presents him as an ideal believer whose life became a model for Muslims. Sheet 4 bears the title “The Quran: The Revealed Word of God.” Its text states: “The Word of God, unknowable in itself, becomes accessible to human beings through the oral recitation and written reading of the Quran.” It continues: “In time and space, God makes himself present through the attribute of the Word …Hiroc’h
Homily Saturday, October 24, 2026 Ephesians 4:7-16 “Living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ.” This is the only way to be ourselves. Let us receive the love of Christ. Luke 13:1-9 “It may bear fruit in the future.” The grace of God within us must be extended to others so that we may share its fruits. Others will pick the fruits. Leo XIV cancels his presence at next inter-religious Assisi meeting. Pope Leo XIV will not travel to Assisi on October 27 for the peace meeting with representatives of various religions. The meeting was intended to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the syncretistic Assisi gathering convened by John Paul II in 1986. It seems that Leo XIV wants to avoid another scandal. The official excuse is his health. Doctors have advised against the helicopter trip "as a precautionary measure." Leo XIV will send a video message instead. At the same time, the doctors announced that Leo XIV had undergone another X-ray. The results were excellent, and his postoperative recovery is progressing very well. #newsBooqnjbqpw
Leo XIV recently underwent surgery to remove a lung tumor. He has now canceled a visit to Assisi—according to the Vatican, so as not to jeopardize his recovery.

1,500-Year-Old Church Mosaics in Türkiye May Reveal a Hidden Message About the Garden of Eden By Leman Altuntaş The Four Rivers of Paradise mosaic in Türkiye depicts Pishon, Gihon, Tigris, and Euphrates as human figures with Greek inscriptions. Credit: Özer Uras & Göregen (2026). A new study of ancient church mosaics in Türkiye suggests that four rivers flowing from the biblical Garden of Eden may carry a deeper message about human virtues and spiritual salvation. The remarkable mosaics, considered the only known example of their kind in Anatolia, reveal how early Christians transformed sacred texts into elaborate works of art. At the ancient city of Hadrianoupolis, in Türkiye’s northern Karabük province, a church floor preserves an unusual scene: four human figures representing the rivers of Paradise, each identified by name in Greek. The figures hold horns of plenty from which water flows into a shared pool, bringing to life a passage from the Book of Genesis. The mosaics have been …Hiroc’h
