Leo XIV Sends Message to Besieged Christian Village in Lebanon
Pope Leo XIV has issued an Easter message to residents of Debel, a predominantly Christian village in southern Lebanon, currently besieged by ongoing Israeli bombardments and military restrictions. The message was delivered through Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
Leo XIV expressed “paternal closeness and tenderness” to the people of Debel and extended compassion to all civilians suffering amid the conflict in South Lebanon.
The message encouraged residents to find spiritual strength in the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, despite the “sorrow, anguish, and mourning” brought on by the violence and isolation facing the village.
The Pope also urged the community not to lose hope, assuring them that their prayers and suffering are not forgotten.
Invoking the protection of Our Lady of Lebanon, he concluded by offering his Apostolic Blessing to the people of Debel and their families.

Major Finnish Study Finds Psychiatric Morbidity Increased with "Gender Reassignment"
A Finnish study has found that psychiatric morbidity increased over time among adolescents who underwent "gender reassignment".
Published in Acta Paediatrica and led by Professor Riittakerttu Kaltiala, the research followed more than 2,000 young people referred to gender identity programs, alongside over 16,000 matched controls, with follow-up extending up to 25 years. The study includes hormones and/or organ mutilations.
It is a nationwide observational study, not a randomized trial. Among those who received medical interventions:
- Psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7% in individuals undergoing feminising treatments.
- It rose from 21.6% to 54.5% in those undergoing masculinising treatments.
The study reports that psychiatric morbidity remained substantially elevated over time.
Even after accounting for prior psychiatric history, "gender-referred" adolescents showed substantially higher psychiatric morbidity than matched peers.

From Castel Gandolfo, Leo XIV issued a call for peace talking to journalists. The continuing escalation is not resolving anything: “It is only provoking more hatred throughout the world.”
Leo XIV urged consideration for civilians, saying: “I would like to invite everyone to think of the many innocent children, the elderly.”

The Black Legend of the 'Stolen Babies' in Spain Refuted
A forensic study has rejected long-standing claims of an organised network of 'stolen babies' in Spain during the second half of the 20th century.
Conducted by five forensic geneticists from the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences (INTCF), the research was published in March.

The 'stolen babies' narrative, which gained widespread attention in the 2000s and 2010s, alleged that, during the Franco era and beyond (1950s–1990s), newborn babies were systematically taken from their parents in hospitals.
