Catholic TV “THE STORY OF SAINT DAMIEN OF MOLOKAI, SACRED HEARTS PRIEST”
is an hour-long video documentary on Father Damien de Veuster, a Sacred Hearts priest whose historic mission of spreading God’s love in the island of Molokai, led to his journey to sainthood. It is a great blessing that Father Damien should be declared a saint in the “Year for Priests” promoted by Pope Benedict XVI, which began with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 19, 2009. The video also chronicles the valiant story – and history – of the first Catholic missionaries in Hawaii who, like Father Damien belonged to the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Their untold sacrifices, sufferings and triumphs served as the cornerstone of what we know today as the Catholic Diocese of Honolulu.
